“做学术研究要耐得住寂寞，研究要持之以恒，不要太功利，不要急于求成。做完规划，要思考提炼，虚实结合。”——周一星教授
12月23日在C栋103教室，北京大学城市与环境学院地理系周一星教授为南国燕园的莘莘学子带来了一场名为“漫谈城市地理的创新思维”的主题讲座。讲座由我院杨家文老师主持。因身体原因阔别科研教学生涯6年的周一星教授在讲座开始就受到了在场所有师生的热烈欢迎与问候。
讲座伊始，周老师从亲身的学术生涯经历谈起，指出创新应该是学术研究的第一追求。随后周老师从《城市地理求索－周一星自选集》中选取了几篇论文作为案例逐一分析，鼓励同学们要有创新思维。
“城市化与国民生产总值关系的规律性探讨”一文中，周老师通过对前人研究的辩证思考，提出城市化过程与经济发展水平之间存在对数曲线关系。在与大家分享论文撰写的过程中，周老师一再强调了“求同”—“求异”—“求同”—“求异”的思辨过程，建议大家应“戴着批判的眼光大量阅读有质量的作品，不要被作者的任何头衔吓住，从过往作品的精华中去发现创新点。”接着，周老师讲述了他研究我国城镇化的地域差异并发表名为“论我国城镇化的地域差异”论文的经历，鼓励同学们“投身到火热的社会生活中去，从中寻找创新空间，同时要善于主动利用做课题的机会去发掘专业的创新点。”
在场下交流环节，南燕学子们踊跃地提出自己在学术研究中碰到的各种问题与疑惑，周老师认真细致地一一作答，并与同学们就当下我国城镇化进程展开了交流。现场气氛十分活跃，掌声迭起。在两个小时的讲座中，精神矍铄的周老师通过分享自身学术研究的经历给同学们以启发，并提出十分中肯的意见。周老师严谨的治学态度，谦和的学者风范都给大家留下了深刻的印象。

Prof. Zhou Yixing : Dare to make a difference
On Dec.23th in Room 103, building C, Prof. Zhou Yixing, who worked in Geology Department of Peking University for decades, gave a lecture on the topic of“Innovative thinking on urban geology”. He started by sharing his own experience on urban geology research, advising the students to have creative mind on their own research. Also, He brought his new book and took cases from the book to show his working methods to the students, which was quite enlightening. In the lecture, Prof. Zhou encouraged the younger generation to learn form good works and bring up new ideas.
In the question & answer part, Prof. Zhou was quite interactive with the students, discussing the students’ problems and exploring the future of Chinese cities which might have with them. The two-hour lecture was very delightful and rewarding; Prof. Zhou’s earnestness on the Geology career impressed us a lot.
