Good morning! My name is Yang Le from Anhui Province, majoring in Microelectronics. It's my great honor to share this wonderful day with you.
大家早上好，我叫杨乐，来自安徽省，我是微电子专业的学生。很荣幸能够和大家一起分享这不同寻常的一天。
My first name is Le, which means happy in Chinese. I guess my parents gave me this name just expecting me to lead a happy life. And now, I think I live up to that very well. Even just a few minutes ago, I still can't believe I have realized my dream of becoming the member of PKU. It's indeed amazing. Several lyrics come to my mind " I never have a dream come true till the days I find you". In fact, PKU is not only a dreamland for us, but also a spiritual place for the educated at large. As being capable of PKU students, we should thank ourselves with both pride and humility. We should thank ourselves for our initial brave choices. We should thank ourselves for our persistence and perseverence. We should thank ourselves for our efforts and sacrifices we made to achieve our dreams. Now, standing here, we can say we deserve it. Therefore, let's break the silence and applaud for ourselves first!
我的名是乐，在中文里，“乐”是“开心快乐”的意思。我想我父母当初给我取这个名字的用意就是希望我能过上快乐的生活。现在我想我没有辜负他们的这个期望。即便就在几分钟前，我仍然不敢相信，我已经实现了我的梦想，成为了北大的一员。这真的太棒了！这让我不禁的想到了一首歌，是这样唱的“I never have a dream come true till the days I find you”。是的，北京大学不仅是中国广大学子的梦想之地，它也是文化人的精神家园。今天能够站在这里，我们应该带着自豪和谦逊感谢自己。感谢自己当初勇敢的选择，感谢自己不懈的坚持，感谢自己在去年一年中所付出的辛勤的汗水，感谢自己为了梦想而做出的牺牲。今天的成果，我们当之无愧。那么就让我们打破沉静，把第一次的掌声献给我们自己！
However, perhaps some of you are wishing that we are in Beijing, instead of Shen zhen. In some ways, it is a pity. I also miss the peaceful water in Wei min Lake, lingering on the beautiful shadow of Bo ya Tower. But as PKU students, we should not forget the obligations on our shoulders. The moment we entered this school, the rise and fall of the country has become our concern. It is this responsibility and devotion that makes us different, but not the distinction in areas. On the other hand, Shenzhen has his own advantages. It is young but energetic. It is the fruit of reform and opening up. Choosing Shenzhen means we choose the spirit of innovation and reform. PKU Shenzhen is the perfect combination between top quality education in PKU and innovative spirit in Shenzhen. By studying here, we can create a beautiful life as well! So, the next applause is for Peking University and for Shenzhen!
不过，也许有人会觉得有点遗憾，那就是我们没能留在北京，而是来到深圳。是的，的确有些可惜，我也留恋未明湖静静的湖水和博雅塔的美丽的倒影。但是作为一个北大人，我们要提醒自己的是我们肩膀上的责任：天下兴亡，匹夫有责。正是这种对民族的责任，这种舍我其谁的勇气而非地域的差别，才让我们北大人与众不同。另外，深圳研究生院也有他自己特有的优势。尽管它年轻但却充满活力，他是中国改革开放的结晶。选择深圳意味着我们选择了“开放”和“创新”。深圳研究生院正是北大一流教育和深圳创新精神的完美结合。相信来到这里的同学，也将会创造出不一样的精彩！那么第二次，让我们为北大鼓掌，为深圳鼓掌！
Well, today, our voyage in PKU will begin. It's no doubt that we have the top tier faculty, the most advanced laboratories, an internationalized education, and friends from all over the world. We are almost ready to set sail. What shall we do?
那么从今天开始我们的研究生生活就正式开始了。毋庸置疑，在这里 ，我们有一流的师资，有最先进的实验室，有国际化的教育理念，有来自世界各地最优秀的同伴。万事俱备，我们将要做些什么呢？
We need to spend more time with our teachers. The importance of our professors can not be measured. Right here, we will encounter top-ranking teachers in every fields around the world. These professors can not only provide us a good research stage but also will make three-year life fulfilled. Only students and professor share the same goal can they cooperate and make true progress their fields.
我们需要多与良师为伴。老师在研究生的培养中起不可估量的作用。在这里我们将遇到来自世界各地，各个领域的杰出的老师。他们不仅能给我们提供一个好的科研平台，也能使我们三年的研究生生活充实愉快。只有师生齐心协力，才能在科研的道路上披荆斩棘。
We need to make friends, regardless of gender, race, religion, color, and nationality. In a word, the more the better. PKU students, as the leader in 21st century, we should not be the lonely mountain but the top of the mountain range. By studying with most outstanding people, we can tackle new innovative ideas. By competing with the most outstanding people, we can find our own flaws. By cooperating with the most outstanding people we can obtain success and lasting friendships.
我们需要交朋友，无论性别，无论种族，无论信仰，无论肤色，无论国籍。地位，越多越好。北大人，作为21世纪的领导者，我们不应是孤峰，而是群山中的最高峰。和优秀的人一起学习，我们能够接触到新的理念和思想。和优秀的人一起竞争，我们能发现自己不足。和优秀的人一起奋斗，我们将收获成功和金子般的友谊。
We need to learn more about the world. The advanced systems, the latest opinions, the voices of great masters. All of these will become our spiritual nourishment.
我们需要更多的了解这个世界。先进的制度，超前的理念，大师们的声音，这些都应该成为我们的精神食粮。
Last but not the least, we need to take more exercise and keep healthy. What is the most precious thing in the world? Different people have different opinions. Some thinks it is health, some believe it is happiness, while some says it is career, money, or love. But I think, if we look at life as the "1000", the number "1" must represent health.
最后，但也是最重要的。多参加运动，保持身心健康。人的一生中，最值得珍惜的东西是什么？不同的人有不同的回答，有人说是健康，有人说是快乐，还有人说是事业、金钱、地位和爱情……但是我觉得如果用“1000”来比喻人的一生，那么其中“1”一定代表身心健康。
Today, we become new PKU students. Three years later, when we leave, whatever we do, wherever we go, we should keep in mind the words of late professor Liang Shuming:" If we don't move forward, common people will suffer". It's our duty and obligation to inherit this spirit of PKU and make the world a better place.
今天，作为新生我们怀揣着理想走入北大，三年后，走出这里，无论我们做什么，无论我们在哪里，我们都应该记住北大老教授梁漱溟先生的话“吾曹不出，如苍生何”。把北大的这种精神传承下来发扬光大，让世界变得更美好，使我们义不容辞的责任。
At this very moment, our journey has begun, the engine has started. The most passionate applause, I think, we should give to our future. Let's hold on to our dreams and get ready to set sail!
